We are d&b, of d&b kayak. “D” is for Dan and “B” is for Bethany.
The day the Lord intended for us to meet was May 30, 2006 in staff training for our summer jobs. We were to be a duo leading summer camps all over the state for middle school age kids. Our campers went kayaking, whitewater rafting, backpacking and sailing. We had a great time being their adventure guides but unexpectedly, WE FELL IN LOVE. One of the first times we were talking I (Dan) Remember Bethany telling me about a poet that she really liked named Bradley Hathaway. I asked her what he wrote about, and she said “Jesus.” I was pretty amazed and thought “Yes! Finally!” (It is very rare to find “Jesus-loving-Christians” in the outdoor industry in my experience). A Christian girl who kayaks?! Needless to say we have been in love since that summer, kayaking together and dreaming together.
On Christmas Eve 2007, Dan proposed on the beach. Three fleeting months later we got married on the Outer Banks of NC, on March 16, 2008. We’ve got a lot of plans and goals for our life together and hopefully kayaking the East Coast was one of the many experiences we will have in our life together.
